ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥app’s Middle Level Education major develops competent, caring and ethical educators with strong subject matter content preparation and authentic, clinical field experiences. Benefit from a strong focus on adolescent literacy as well as content methods.

The Middle Level Education major leads to certification in teaching fourth through eighth grade. You’ll choose one of the following middle level specialization areas:

  • English/Language Arts/Reading
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Mathematics and Science

ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥apphas created Professional Development Schools with local urban and suburban public school districts, private schools and early childhood centers to give our students the opportunity to work with professional classroom teachers and connect theory with practice. These partnerships allow you to spend over 200 hours in these experiences before the capstone student teaching experience.

What Will You Learn as a Middle Level Education Major?

  • Learn and develop instructional strategies to engage middle level learners through the physical, emotional and social changes of adolescence.
  • You’ll specialize in one of the five subject areas: English/language arts/reading, mathematics, science, social studies, and mathematics and science.
  • Learn methods and strategies to differentiate instruction.
  • Gain skills and knowledge focusing on inclusive practices that include students with special needs in the general education classroom environment.
  • Acquire skills in collaboration and communication.
  • Learn to be flexible and work with many different personalities.

Arizona Partnership

A unique collaboration with Casa Grande School District in Arizona opens doors for students to student-teach in the sunny Southwest. Several ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥appgraduates have accepted full-time teaching positions as a result of the partnership.
